Decption Pass State Park

We went on a day trip yesterday to Deception Pass State Park on Whidbey Island. We had a lot of fun and are planning to go back for a camping trip this summer.

(History Note: The name "Deception Pass" derived from Captain Vancouver's realization that what he had mistaken for a peninsula was actually an island. He named that island "Whidbey" in honor of his assistant, Joseph Whidbey, who was at his side when Vancouver realized the mistake. The captain named the inlet at which he was anchored "Deception Pass" to commemorate the error.)

We ate McDonalds on the way. This is first time William has ever eaten McDonalds and of course, he liked it.

He liked it so much, that 2 seconds after eating his last McNugget, he feel asleep (I mean passed out and/or crashed off the sugar).

The view from the bridge that stretches from the main land to the island.

Standing on the bridge (notice the death grip). We hiked up the mountain to the bridge. Even William walked up.

Crystal clear water

On the bridge

On the beach after climbing back down (bridge we were just standing on in the background). William spent the whole time collecting rocks.

Daddy and mommy took in the view.
